In music language, a 'loop' describes an endlessly repeating sound segment – an infinite loop, so to say.
In the past years, numerous music artists have indulged in creating music by using infinite loops, developing and transforming the loop as well as themselves. Yet there is one big disadvantage to loop music: Mostly, you are all alone creating it! Pity, we thought, and after some tinkering and pondering, some discussing and some going-around-in-circles we decided that something had to be done: We needed a turning point... a torque (German: Drehmoment)!
Addressing all the loop artists out there, the Drehmoment-festival is an invitation to leave your dark rehearsal rooms and get to know each other, to connect and to exchange your knowledge. Amateur, beginner, expert, or just feeling like listening to some hand-made live music in an infinite loop – everybody is welcome! We offer several workshops, concerts and an open stage. Of course, we will have beer, coffee and anything else needed to start a conversation with each other.
The Drehmoment-Loop-Festival will launch this year in Leipzig on August 16 and 17. You will find us at the Café MALA on Schulze-Delitzsch Straße 19. For any further information, check our program or just come by!
We are excited and looking forward to seeing you! Let’s stay in the loop...

The musician and producer Rotem Fisher devolops his music from the singer-songwriter genre. As a solo-loop artist nevertheless, he creates songs which put the spectrum of a whole indie band on the stage. He started his first solo project at the end of 2017. In November 2018, he presented his debut album Bell.
rotemfisher.comPony scrapes and taps and beats. She builds energetic sound worlds only to demolish them with the same intensity. Sometimes her voices float playfully and lightly above this sound base, sometimes they ram themselves relentlessly into the ground. Dreamy Electronica on all loop levels with occasional trips into various spheres of popmusic. Pony is also the singer of Elephants on Tape from Leipzig.
ponypracht.comReinhardt Buhr Wild lettuce is an ever evolving World fusion multi-instrumentalist. He blends the sounds of the Flamenco guitar, Australian didgeridoo and Electric Cello to creat endless improvisational sound journeys. Not one performance will ever be the same. Right, now he is touring through europe and released his brandnew album „Movement 3 - Berlin“
With accurate vision, Maria Schüritz finds universal tales in the inconspicuous. Wilfully, she connects elements of soul, jazz and rock to catchy songs. After Lieder aus dem Kopfkino, she recently published her second album Ich, dein Wahnsinn. Maria Schüritz has been the host of the LoopArt-Festival at the KAOS-Kultursommer in Leipzig for years.
www.maria-schueritz.deA freak with loop-machine and clarinet, Metaltute hacks, uses the meat grinder, combines anew, chops to pieces – and records. Times and times again, he shows that the clarinet has something to say way beyond classical music, klezmer and Balkan music. His art also leaves its mark on the sounds of solo artist Alligatoah.
www.fb.com/metaltuteSince 2006, the beatbox and vocal artist evolved into an original musician and show master. Partly as founder and partly as support, Jan Elf engages in music as well as theatre projects. His music consists of his own compositions and unique cover versions which exclusively rely on his voice.

When the loop station Boss RC-505 was released, it hit the scene like a bomb. This loop station offered countless possibilities! Beatbox and loop artist Friedel knows exactly how to handle this item. Rumours say he even accomplished to “bounce” the individual soundtracks – merging them all into a single one. This is the right space for exquisite nerd talk as well as thoughts and questions regarding the RC-505 and in which ways beatbox artists and vocal artists should use it.
